College Life
At Wellington College International Pune, the house system lies at the heart of school life. The four houses at WCI Pune are woven carefully into multiple aspects of the academic and college life. It is a meticulously designed framework that allows pupils to find a sense of belonging, participation pathways and opportunities to thrive.
Our house system is designed to engage and inspire pupils, giving them opportunities to grow while also developing a strong sense of team spirit and healthy competition. Each house becomes a rallying point for academic, artistic, cultural, and sporting activities planned throughout the year. Such activities ensure that pupils of all ages can discover and showcase their talents.
Not just that, every single member of WCI Pune, including pupils, parents, teachers and non-academic staff, is allotted a house. This facilitates broader engagement and the development of meaningful connections.
The House names, Raglan, Anglesey, Benson and Apsley, are closely associated with Wellington College’s foundations and history. These names represent values peculiar to the people they were named after.
The Anglesey House was named after the Marquess of Anglesey, a distinguished military leader who served alongside the Duke of Wellington, symbolising courage and resilience.
The Apsley House gets its name from the Duke of Wellington’s London Residence, the “Apsley House”. It is a representation of leadership, legacy, and responsibility.
The Benson House gets its name after the first Headmaster of Wellington College and later the Archbishop of Canterbury, Edward White Benson. The house is a reflection of scholarship, moral leadership, and educational excellence.
The Raglan House takes its name from Lord Raglan, a distinguished British military leader who served as a trusted confidant and long-time associate of the Duke of Wellington, symbolising duty, perseverance, and service.
While each Wellington school worldwide adapts the system to its own context, the core philosophy remains the same, and it is to create a supportive, inspiring environment where pupils feel connected, confident, and motivated.
From the House Singing Competitions to the Sports Day activities, Academic performances to creative endeavours, every initiative runs on the back of the House system at WCI Pune. These events provide pupils with varied opportunities to explore interests, build teamwork, and celebrate individual and collective achievements.
