Creating Tomorrows Leaders

Wellington College International Pune offers the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). Our Key Stage 5 (KS5) journey is anchored in this rigorous, globally recognised pre-university curriculum designed to develop knowledgeable, confident, and compassionate young people.

As an IB World School, we nurture pupils to think critically, engage meaningfully with the world around them, and strive to realise their full potential.

A Holistic and Future-Ready Education

The IBDP at WCI Pune is intentionally broad, inquiry-driven, and intellectually challenging. Pupils study six subjects across different discipline groups, ensuring academic depth while maintaining balance. Alongside subject learning, the programme integrates three transformative core components:

  • Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

Pupils explore the nature of knowledge through inquiry, debate, reflection, and real-life applications. TOK encourages intellectual courage, open-mindedness, and strong critical thinking. That's how they learn about how we know what we claim to know!

  • Extended Essay (EE)

A 4,000-word independent research paper that allows students to dive deeply into an academic discipline of their choice. Guided by experienced supervisors, students learn essential skills in research, academic writing, and time management, preparing them for university-level work.

  • Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)

CAS is central to our school’s culture. Through creative pursuits, physical wellbeing, and meaningful service experiences, pupils learn to engage with their community, take initiative, lead with empathy, and build lifelong values.

Personalised Pathways for Every Learner

At Wellington, we believe every pupils's journey is unique. Our experienced IBDP staff guide pupils in selecting subjects and levels (HL/SL) aligned with their interests, strengths, and university aspirations.

We offer a rich range of subjects across:

Group 1: Studies in Language & Literature

Group 2: Language Acquisition

Group 3: Individuals & Societies

Group 4: Sciences

Group 5: Mathematics

Group 6: The Arts (or additional subjects from Groups 3/4)

This flexibility allows pupils to design a programme that is both challenging and personalised.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Our KS5 learning culture extends far beyond textbooks. Pupils participate in:

  • University and career guidance sessions
  • Research workshops and IA clinics
  • CAS projects with real community impact
  • Local and international educational visits
  • Interdisciplinary learning through TOK and subject links
  • Leadership opportunities in the School Council and school events

We ensure that pupils not only excel academically but also develop confidence, resilience, and global-mindedness.
