International Women’s Week - 6th March 2024

WCI Pune is proud to be recognising International Women’s Day with a range of events leading up to Friday 8th March. It was therefore fantastic to welcome Wg Cdr. (Retd.) Ms Anupama Joshi, Director of Personnel & Compliance, to the school on Wednesday 6th March. Addressing pupils, parents, and staff, Ms Joshi delivered an inspirational speech on her own personal journey as one of the first group of women to be inducted into the Indian armed forces. She recounted her experiences in the Airforce and her famous fight for gender equality in the armed forces.

Pupils were fascinated to learn of the long Court battle that Ms Joshi led, ultimately helping to achieve permanent status for women in the Armed forces. It is a story of perseverance and courage, and is hugely inspirational for all in the Wellington community in the build up to International Women’s Day!
