The Wellington College Pune Early Years programme offers an innovative and inspiring approach to pre-primary school education, one which values the child as strong, capable and resilient. We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life and access to the support that enables them to fulfil that potential.
All parents want the best educational start for their child, whether they enrol them in school at age 2 or age 5. At Wellington College Pune we are fortunate to build upon the footprint of other Wellingtons, across the globe, and our Early Years programme leverages upon the College values of courage, kindness, respect, responsibility and integrity. At Pre-Primary level, the youngest in our Early Years cohort, we encourage children to have a sense of ownership in trying to understand their feelings, emotions and needs. Supported and guided by qualified and experienced Early Years educators, our pupils develop their intellectual curiosity and problem-solve with confidence.
Within a spectacular Early Years setting, that blends indoor and outdoor learning facilities, Wellington’s Pre-Primary learning is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the English National Curriculum. Concepts and ideas are shared between the family of Wellington schools, in China, Thailand and the UK too, and enriched by aspects of international programmes from Italy, Australia and Finland. All parents and pupils are enthused by the central strands, the golden threads, that provide such an enabling environment at Wellington Pune, with our Early Years focusing on positive relationships and the absolute uniqueness that thrives among children. Furthermore, the Wellington approach allows parents to gain confidence in the assessment levels, even at the Pre-Primary age, as standards are benchmarked against the English Early Learning Goals.
The joy of a Wellington College Pune education, for Pre-Primary classes, is not restricted to the classrooms. We want young children to explore, to innovate, and to discover arenas of life that enrich and entice them. In addition to academic learning, and progression, these areas of educational exploration are pivotal in a child’s development and a Wellington College pathway embraces all these opportunities (set within the fantastic facilities, indoor and outdoor). Montessori perhaps puts it best and it is a fitting summary of the excitement young people feel with a Wellington College Pune education:
“Let the children be free; encourage them; let them run outside when it is raining; let them remove their shoes when they find a puddle of water; and when the grass of the meadows is wet with dew, let them run on it and trample it with their bare feet; let them rest peacefully when a tree invites them to sleep beneath its shade; let them shout and laugh when the sun wakes them.”
